Description:
Gunther just joined LR family! He was found as a stray and put in the scary shelter. He was very quiet at the shelter and the shelter staff all praised he was such a good boy. He walks nicely on leash, his tail didn't stop wagging when he checked out the next door small dog in the visiting area. Although he was not very interested in the treats, he took the treat from LR lady very gently. He did his business when he was lead to the visiting area so potty training might be an easy task for this handsome boy! He is a young boy and will need reassuring and training to make him a even better dog!

Update: For a 1 year old, he is amazingly calm. He was introduced to an 8 year old female lab and two young children 2 and 4 years old. Was gentle and sweet and allowed them to pet him. Have not crossed paths with cats but gets along great with his Foster siblings 85 lb black lab female and 4 lb female poodle type dog. Here is what the Foster has to say: Gunther is loving, loves to cuddle up with human, sleeps completely through the night...non wandering. No food, toy or leash aggression. Loves to wander and play around the yard and play with resident lab. (I saw him down-dog to his sibling and instigate play and wrestling) Loves to toss and play with toys and is just learning fetch. Is completely house/potty trained. Ruby's husband has taken him on daily runs with his bike. Loves to run and doesn't get distracted on leash. (I took him on a leash walk with my family's dog and he was a dream. Lose leash, no pull kept right beside, as if he'd been trained...maybe he was?) Great energy but not typical hyper puppy. The only thing she could say negatively was that he does counter surf if given temptation. And he barks when stranger comes to door, but not in mean aggressive...just alert. ( He did so with me as I came to the front door and he was wagging his tail as soon as I walked in) Foster is looking for an active family, another dog or dogs would be ideal. Would need an active family as he loves to run along on leash, as well as enough yard space to play with other dogs, kids or fetch. Not just a patio in other words. His black coat is soft and shiny, has a splash of white on his chest and paws. Ruby thinks he might have some Great Dane in him, I'm thinking shepherd but who knows? He is wonderful! Please come back to check on his update later when the foster gets to know him more.
