Description:

Champ is a 10 year old beautiful, black lab boy. He came to Lab Rescuers when his family was unable to care for him due to his diagnosis of diabetes. As a complication of diabetes, Champ is also blind. In spite of these issues Champ is a lovely, loving, well-mannered boy.

He is a funny little guy who sleeps on his back with all 4 legs up in the air! We are honestly not sure how he does that! He is on the smaller side, and is a calm, older dog. He likes hanging out around the house, and likes to be in the room where his family is. He is house trained and sleeps all night on his bed without any issues.

In spite of his blindness, Champ gets around pretty well. He loves going on walks. He is gaining strength and we are increasing the distance he walks each day. He loves going to the park and walks nicely on the paths next to his human. He adores going in the car and we visit Home Depot regularly. He walks right next to you with his side touching your leg so he is confident that he won't run into anything.

Champ is a bit of a picky eater, so he has wet food mixed with dry food to ensure he gets enough calories every day. He does need insulin injections twice daily. He takes treats gently, is friendly with other dogs, people and children. We donít know how he reacts to cats.

Champ is looking for a forever family dedicated to managing his medical issues and giving him the loving home he deserves. His forever family will be lucky to spend time with this wonderful boy.
