Description: This sweet boy is Ernest, who was found as a stray on the streets and taken to a very high kill shelter in the Inland Empire. He was found to be extremely neglected and in need of medical care. Thanks to our LR shelter rep, Ernest was rescued and taken straight to the hospital for his much needed medical attention. He had bad ear infections, and needed some lumps and bumps removed, all of which turned out to be benign.

That was the old Ernest. Ernest's health improves every day, and he's looking better and feeling better. We are in the process of getting his ear infections cleared up, his stitches were removed, his hair is growing back, and he's lookin' good! He's a handsome Lab, that's for sure. Ernest is a wonderful old boy! He is dog friendly, and cat friendly. He ignores my cats ... that's a big plus! He is enthusiastic, and has a real cute stride while walking. His hind legs are showing signs of weakness, and he needs some help getting into/out of the car, and stairs are a problem, but at the same time, he loves his walks, will walk a pretty good distance, and enjoys every minute of it. He has hearing loss, most likely due to his neglected ears, but hopefully this is just temporary and we will see some improvement as his ear infections clear up. He will look at you with eyes full of expression and life. He is a real nice boy, who is low maintenance, and all he really wants is a nice cozy bed, and someone to love him. Could that someone be you? There is no end to the rewards you will receive for giving this sweet old guy a forever home. How does a face looking up at you with love sound, or his beautiful big yellow head on your lap?

Labrador Rescuers calendar for the month of April shows a yellow lab lying next to a pillow that says, "It's never too late to live happily ever after." I truly believe that and hope it happens for Ernest, especially after being so neglected, and yet so forgiving. Ernest deserves a loving home and his happily ever after. We're sure hoping he finds it.
