This beautiful purebred yellow girl is Gemma. She was pulled from a high kill inland empire shelter just in the knick of time on her last day. She was found as a stray on the streets.
We are dumbfounded as to why this wonderful girl was dumped. She is an excellent dog, good with other dogs, walks like a good girl on the leash and knows her basic commands. She is fantastic, brimming with love and happiness and waiting to give lots of love and affection to her new forever and ever home.
We did find out that she is a little escape artist, so it’s important for her to go to a home that has a plan of action for that. The best plan is going to be minimal alone time. When she is left alone, she should be inside, not having access to the outdoors where she might work her magical disappearing act. If she is found to not be trustworthy in the house, then she can be crated. From what we’ve been told, she would jump the fence to escape when left alone in the backyard in her previous home.
Gemma had a slumber party one night at a house with a cat. She enjoyed chasing the cat, likely taking away one or two of the cat’s 9 lives, so no cats for Gemma.
*Update: Gemma has been in foster for a few weeks now. She has been a very good girl and loves being part of household action. She is housetrained and has been practicing her commands and leash skills. Gemma loves to play tug-of-war with her foster sister and gives every toy in the basket equal opportunity. She sleeps like a good girl either in a crate or on a dog bed, but most definitely prefers YOUR bed! After good exercise she settles down inside very nicely. She has been well behaved when left alone inside for up to 3 hours. In true Labrador style she wants to be wherever you are.
